My house was always filled with music , growing up, with m y mom playing Big Band records and Broadway show tunes. So, when I began put ting this album together I realized I wanted to please my Jazz audiences as well as Broadway fans. I t wasn’t easy but think I accomplished that “Big Order.”

The choices were over whelming, even with the help of my chum, Julie Andrews, giving me suggestions! I n the end , though, I select ed some of my favorites songs that I grew up with . I ’ll never forget seeing West Side Story ten times with my high school friends. I knew I would regret not making this a 2-album package , because of all songs I wanted to do, but I think of this album a s Broadway Memories Part 1.

New York’s, Ron Forman, of WKRB, loved the fact that no woman had ever sung “The Impossible Dream” and that I had changed a few lyrics to make it work for a woman to sing it. I always related to this song because I have always been the “Impossible Dreamer”

After flying down to Sidney, Australia, to watch Julie ( Andrews) direct a beautiful production of “My Fair Lady , ” I fell in love all over again with this song and knew , I just had to record I've Grown A ccustomed to His Face.” Another song that not many females sing . When I start a music project, I usually sit down at the piano and play the song until my mind is filed with melodies that will give the arrangement character . In this particular song I heard cellos playing these figures, which you will hear throughout the song. T his arrangement give s you a woman ’s point of view and hopefully for you a fresh listen.

I was just a young child when I first saw the movie, Wizard of Oz. My mom told me, after hearing Judy Garland sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” I whispered in her ear, “That ’s what I’m going to do, Mommy, when I grow up.” So, it was a must for me to include it. T he Wizard of Oz is a 2011 musical based on the 1939 film of the same name, with a book adapted by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams .

I wavered back & forth wondering if I should add Sound of Music and knew I had to do it completely different than the original. Let’s face it, no one could replace the exquisite voice and interpretation of the Queen, Julie Andrews!

Hope you enjoy the album and it takes you on a beautiful journey!
